Joy of Sharing Foundation (“Joy of Sharing,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating a community center in Norwalk, California. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

We collect information through the contact form on this site. This typically includes your name, email address, and whatever details you choose to include in your message, such as the program or service you are asking about.
If you email us directly at the address listed on this site, we receive your email address along with anything you write to us or attach.
If you contact us about volunteering, we collect the details you send about your availability, skills, and interest areas so we can match you with the right opportunity.
When you browse the site without contacting us, our web server and hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit.

Donations

Online donations made through this site are processed by Donorbox, a third-party donation platform embedded on our Donate page. When you give online, your payment and billing details are entered directly into Donorbox and are handled under Donorbox’s own privacy policy and its payment processors. We receive donor information such as your name, email address, and donation amount so we can acknowledge your gift, issue receipts, and maintain the records required of a nonprofit organization.
Donations sent by check are received and recorded by us directly at our Norwalk address.

Embedded Content

Our Contact page includes an embedded Google Map showing the community center location. Loading that map may allow Google to collect information about your visit, including your IP address, under Google’s own privacy policy. Our Soul Force Project section links to an externally hosted podcast player. Interacting with embedded content works the same way as visiting the third-party site directly.

Cookies and Analytics

This site may use cookies or similar technologies to support basic functionality and to help us understand how visitors use the site. Embedded services such as Donorbox and Google Maps may set their own cookies. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how some parts of the site display, though it will not prevent you from reading our content.

How We Use Information

We use the information you send to respond to your message, answer questions about our medical clinic, classes, senior services, public benefits assistance, and other programs, coordinate volunteer participation, process and acknowledge donations, and keep you informed about events at the center when you have asked us to.
Technical information collected automatically helps us keep the site secure and understand how it is being used.
We do not sell your information.

Sharing of Information

We do not share the information you send with third parties except where necessary to operate this website and our programs, such as with our web hosting provider, our donation platform, our email provider, or where required by law.
Some of our services are delivered in partnership with other organizations, including Lestonnac Free Clinic for medical services and partner agencies for senior services and public benefits screening. If you ask us to help you access one of these services, we will share only the information needed to connect you with that partner, and only with your knowledge.

Health and Program Information

If you visit the free medical clinic or receive case management, benefits screening, or other in-person services at the community center, any health or eligibility information you provide is collected in person and is handled by the clinic or the partner organization delivering that service under their own privacy practices and applicable law.
This website does not collect health information, and we ask that you do not send medical details through the contact form.

Third-Party Links

This site links to our Facebook page and to the websites of programs and partners, including Karina’s Backpack Project, the Soul Force Project, and the agencies that built and manage this website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these platforms and sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with them.

Photos and Video at Events

We sometimes photograph or record our events and programs and share those images on this site and on our social media. If you appear in a photo on this site and would like it removed, email us and we will take it down.

Children's Privacy

Some of our programs serve children and families, and this website is written for the adults who take part in them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent us information, please email us and we will delete it.

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information sent through this site from unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep contact form submissions and email correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to answer your question or support your involvement with the center. Donation records are kept for as long as required for our tax, accounting, and reporting obligations as a nonprofit.

Your Choices

You may email us at any time to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask that we delete a message you sent us. California residents have additional rights regarding personal information under state law, and we will honor reasonable requests to the extent we are able. You can also unsubscribe from any email updates we send using the link included in those messages.
